trying to remain positive even though all i keep hearing is bad news, and i am not only homesick but feeling down about my grandma jazzy.
positives:
I miss grandma jazzy so, so fucking much. I am blessed to have known her as long as I did but I just don’t feel the same. Something inside me has changed now that she has died. I don’t know if anyone else experiences this or not.
@2 months agoVery excited to share that some of my photos from the Greener Blocks event in Las Vegas, NV last April were published in the National Association of Realtors semi-annual magazine called “On Common Ground”! The magazine describes itself as a publication that “presents a wide range of views on smart growth issues, with the goal of encouraging dialog among realtors, elected officials, and other interested citizens.”
The theme for this issue was transportation. Past/recent themes include communities for all generations, sustainable housing, placemaking and economic environment, green communities, and new norms as urbanization and the recession affect the real estate market.
I had never heard of the publication when one of their representatives contacted me after seeing my photos on flickr (the entire album from the Greener Blocks event is here), but I am so glad I did because these issues are super interesting and very relevant to my interests.
I highly suggest visiting their site for past issues and clicking here to see the full issue in which my photos were published. Thank you to Kristin D., an editor from the publication, for reaching out to me!
1. I am absolutely freezing since going out jogging last night around 9:30-10:30. I couldn’t warm up last night, and now today I feel frigid to the bone. I am currently sitting in my apartment with a fleece jacket and a blanket on, and it’s doing no good. This is weird.
2. My puppies do not like other dogs. On our walk today (~2 miles), we took the same route as usual which involves walking by Cashman Field, the baseball stadium downtown, since it’s practically across the street. Unfortunately there was some sort of pet expo going on (what are the odds?), so I had fun keeping them in line and hushing them up so they wouldn’t attack the other, mostly bigger, dogs. I failed miserably though so we booked it.
3. My legs are sore, but not as sore as I thought they’d be. I’ve been doing squats, walking, and jogging and my legs feel tough but not like jello.
4. Kanye West Pandora is the best station for when you want to feel like a thug.
@3 months agoFor the first months at the start of this decade, Artists Wanted mounted an international search for the worlds most compelling Self Portraits. What was discovered is phenomenal. Artists from over 70 countries submitted work ranging from painting, to sculpture to performance to photographs. The range and depth of work was phenomenal and we are pleased to present the best of that process.
I recieved an email today inviting me to this show opening in Manhattan on Friday the 12th. Wish I lived in the city!
The show features the winners of the Artists Wanted, Power of Self competition that took place a few months ago. Photographer Cheng-Chang Wu of Taiwan took the first prize while Rebekka Guðleifsdóttir of Hafnarfjörður, Iceland and Hilary McHone of South Pasadena, CA took Peoples Choice Awards.
If you’re in New York this weekend, check it out:
Friday, March 12th, from 7pm through 10pm,
Self: Expressed
Open House Gallery
201 Mulberry St. in Manhattan.
